A photobook-of-the-month club
Building on the success of the independent print magazine we founded in 2013, my partners and I launched Charcoal, a small publisher of art books and broadsheets. It also featured a photobook-of-the-month club that sent expertly curated photography books to subscribers each month.
During this adventure, we learned how to balance old-world distribution with the new reality of self-funded publishing — and we quickly became experts in the nuances of print projects in the modern era.
